Simone Knudsen DVM MRCVS

Simone qualified from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural College, Copenhagen, in 1993. She obtained a position at the Large Animal Unit at Cambridge University Veterinary School in January 1994, which was followed by locum work in general practice (mixed, with a small animal bias). Her interest in clinical pathology and diagnostics began in earnest when she joined the Animal Health Trust as a locum to cover these areas in the Pathology department. In addition, her duties encompassed providing veterinary care for the resident pony herd, and she also held the position of Named Veterinary Surgeon. After Simone left the Trust and resumed work in general practice her interest in diagnostics remained very strong; she joined Finn Pathologists in 2003, when Clinical Pathology was very new to the company, and has seen the workload in this department increase dramatically since then.

Simone’s areas of particular interest include parasitology (whilst a student she took part in research into Hystrongylus rubidus in pigs), tropical diseases and diseases of cervids.
