Nick followed up a BSc in Animal Virology from Edinburgh University with a veterinary degree from the Royal Veterinary College in 1994. He spent five years in general mixed practice in Suffolk before taking up a residency in Veterinary Pathology at Cambridge University Veterinary School.

He attained membership of the Royal College of Pathologists by examination in 2005 following spells with Finn pathologists and the Veterinary Laboratories Agency.
Nick returned to small animal diagnostic pathology, joining Rest Associates working part time as a diagnostic pathologist. His special interests include infectious diseases and oncology. He is a member of the British Society of Veterinary Pathology and CLDavis DVM Foundation for Veterinary Pathology.
