Chris Knott BVSc. Cert. LAS MRCVS

Chris was born in Oldham in 1958 and was educated at Manchester Grammar School and then Liverpool University, where he received the degree of BVSc in 1981. After qualifying, his first job was in a large mixed, mainly small animal practice in Basildon, Essex. Having kept all manner of unusual pets since early childhood, he naturally chose to specialize in treatment of exotic animals, with a particular interest in reptiles. After three years in Basildon he was forced, through illness, to leave general practice and opted to pursue a career in pathology, again concentrating on non-domestic species.

Chris joined Finn Pathologists in December 1997 and for seven years or so was almost solely responsible for the reporting of histopathology in all exotic species, including “small furries”, exotic pets, zoo animals and wildlife, until an increasing workload led to the recruitment of other pathologists with an interest in exotic animal pathology. As a result, Chris has a wealth of experience in the pathology of exotic mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and even a few invertebrates.

Outside work, Chris’s interests include observing and photographing wildlife (especially birds and moths), clay pigeon shooting and fine wines.
